AFTER: Adoptive
Family Therapeutic and Educational Resources is the first regional Post-Adoption
Center in California and the State pilot for Adoption Assistance (AAP) wraparound
services.
California Health
Advocates: California Health Advocates (CHA) is a non-profit organization
that strives to be the premier source of health insurance information and advocacy
in order to have a well-informed and empowered Medicare population inCalifornia.
CHA supports the work of local HICAP offices (see below) and also reaches out
to other organizations that serve Medicare beneficiaries through the California
Medicare Coalition.
California Social
Work Education Center: A coalition of University Schools of Social Work,
the State of California, and county human service agencies dedicated to improving
the education and supply of social workers in California.
Center of Excellence
in Elder Abuse & Neglect: A center established in the University of California,
Irvine School of Medicine to offer medical, forensic, and victim services to
abused and neglected seniors living in the Irvine area, serve as a "living
laboratory" of innovative approaches, and serve as a central source of technical
assistance, best practice information, multidisciplinary training, useful research,
and relevant policy issues statewide in California.
Children Now: A
research and action organization dedicated to children’s issues.
First Five Association of
California: The statewide association of California Children and Families
Act Commissions formed under Proposition 10 to create a comprehensive and integrated
system of information and services promoting early childhood development from
prenatal to age 5.
Health
Insurance Counseling & Advocacy Program: HICAP, the Health Insurance
Counseling and Advocacy Program, is a statewide program that does Medicare benefits
counseling and education under the California Dept. of Aging.
Medi-Cal Policy Institute:
An independent source of information on Medi-Cal and Healthy Families programs.
Western Center on Law & Poverty:
A non-profit legal services program devoted to poverty law litigation and legislative
advocacy.
Youth Law Center: A public interest
law firm that works to protect children in the nation's foster care and juvenile justice
systems from abuse and neglect.
