San Francisco’s Clinical and Quality Assurance Unit
Promoting Positive Outcomes for Adults with Disabilities and Older Adults

CWDA Conference/Symposium Presentation

The Clinical and Quality Assurance Unit within San Francisco’s Department of Aging and Adult Services (DAAS) provides critical clinical services to In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) and Adult Protective Services (APS) consumers. This unit is staffed by Registered Nurses and Licensed Clinical Social Workers that are able to provide medical and behavioral health care support to adults with disabilities and older adults. Services are provided across the continuum of care ranging from wellness to crisis, with the goal of carrying out enhanced assessment and support for consumers with complex issues that extend beyond individual programmatic roles. The integrated social and medical approach that the unit takes to address casework has demonstrated positive client outcomes on a range of health indicators.
