A key component of CWDA’s mission is to educate state and federal policy-makers and the public regarding the significance of human services policies on individuals, communities, and county human services operations, as well as offering trainings and webinars to its members and partners. WIOA Cost-Sharing Webinar

This webinar focused on critical information that partners need to successfully negotiate Phase II of the WIOA MOU development process. An overview of the Phase II MOU requirements, content, and timeline was provided, with a focus on requirements for sharing infrastructure costs, the combined budget for applicable career services, and the optional sharing of other system costs.

Whole Person Care Pilot: Q&A on Critical Topics

With the July 1, 2016 deadline for initial submissions of applications for Whole Person Care pilots just around the corner, this month’s webinar was devoted to a Q&A session on critical topics, drawing on questions submitted in advance by counties.

Senate Bill 75: Implementing Full Scope Medi-Cal Benefits for All Children

CWDA partnered with the California Health Care Foundation (CHCF) for a county SB 75 training on Wednesday, May 18. This webinar discussed the changes to Welfare and Institutions Code section 14007.8 for the Medi-Cal program pursuant to Senate Bill (SB) 75 (Chapter 18, Statutes of 2015) that provides to individuals under age 19 who do not have satisfactory immigration status or are unable to verify satisfactory immigration status or citizenship with full scope Medi-Cal.

Whole Person Care Pilot: Update on Activities, Timeline and Draft Request for Applications

On April 28, several organizations convened the second in a series of webinars focused on the pilot opportunity presented in the Medi-Cal 2020 Waiver. This webinar provides an update on the WPC attachments, activities, and timeline; a discussion of service bundles; and discussion of the draft request for applications and application evaluation criteria.

On February 25, several organizations co-hosted a webinar – the first in a series - to provide information to local officials interested in the Whole Person Care pilot opportunity presented in the Medi-Cal 2020 Waiver. The February webinar provided an overview of the pilot elements and key dates and timelines.

CWDA and California State Association of Counties (CSAC) commenced a study in 2009 looking at safety-net programs counties provide on behalf of the state and the benefits for our communities and counties.

This webinar, held December 1, 2015, discussed changes being made to the CalFresh Data Dashboard, including the newly developed Program Reach Index, PRI, a measure of participation that attempts to account for undocumented immigrants and those on SSI.

CWDA held a webinar on April 16, 2015 regarding Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) – Youth Curriculum and Training. The webinar discussed new prevention-oriented curriculum and training to prevent sex trafficking of foster youth, developed by Los Angeles County.

CWDA – in partnership with WestCoast Children’s Clininc, San Mateo County Human Services Agency Children and Family Services, City and County of San Francisco Family and Children’s Services, and San Luis Obispo County Department of Social Services – hosted a webinar on March 5, 2015 on CSEC screening tools.

This seminar, held September 24, 2014, was designed for Housing Support Program counties to learn about the concepts of rapid re-housing,  including screening and assessment, housing identification, determination of subsidies, landlord engagement, and data collection.

CalWORKs Housing Support Webinar

Developed for the newly launched CalWORKs Housing Support Program counties, this webinar held on August 6, 2014 provided a review of the core components of rapid re-housing, an overview of best practices in program design, and lessons learned across the country from HUD’s Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program, part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

Appeals Process Under Health Care Reform Webinar

This webinar held February 25, 2014 is tailored for county appeals staff who handle Medi-Cal appeals that deal with the Affordable Care Act (ACA) including Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI) Medi-Cal and mixed household cases and applications that contain both Medi-Cal and Covered California applicants and or beneficiaries.

2013 Realignment Seminar Materials

CWDA hosted a seminar in November 2013 that provided an overview of the structure of 1991 Realignment and 2011 Realignment, with particular focus on human services programs and the changes to 1991 Realignment made under AB 85 and SB 98; information and tools to assist in revenue and growth projections; and discussion of funding opportunities and possibilities presented by realignment.
